Our group made it down for the last hurrah. Excellent spring conditions .... except for Shays which was literally a solid sheet of bumped up concrete Sat AM. It loosed up in the afternoon then they closed it on Sunday.

My buddy put together a nice video edit. That's my son at the end doing the pond skim.

Snowshoe Video 4/6 + 4/7

Great season, a little sad to see it end but it's time for spring and summer activities.

hahaha. We skied lower shays on saturday am. One of us, err, me, had a gentle fall followed by a nasty slide down the hill, lost a lot of forearm skin. But, the next four hours were glorious on both cup and shays and knotbumper was superb. The snow held up great and it was a fun group of skiers out there. We got to see what Snowshoe looks like with an appropriate number of skiers for the terrain, and it is very different than the normal experience. Cup in particular is actually very good without the normal hordes.
Anyone else out there?

Did you love the sign that said Shays was ungroomed and "firm"?

That was one hell of an understatement in the morning.

That's a great video, snowshoe could use that for promos for a long time. It looks like a real ski area ! I see you got the shays sign in the video - nice! Yeah, for my kid that was like a shining beacon saying 'go for it', at the midpoint he said 'that sucks' and I said 'yeah, lets bail over to cup' and he said 'no way' and took off, thus my trouble. He was at the bottom chatting up some girl and taking pictures as I was sliding down a near death experience smile But it was so good later I am surprised they closed it on Sunday. We should be so lucky to end every season like that.

I agree, a great video featuring near mid season conditions one week into April.
I suspect The Snowshoe season pass sale paid great dividends to the Shoe's bottom line and slope sliders alike!
Way to go Snowshoe, and kudos to deBerry and his management team!!!

DAMN I should have gone. 7S was a mush pit and was SUPER slow. I left after 2 hours. Had I know that Cupp was running well I would have made the choice to be there. frown
