Anybody hear any information or rumors about upgrades or what's new for the upcoming season??

Is the western expansion idea dead for all intents and purposes? Would love to see the expansion happen instead of the resort focusing so much on parks and pipes.

I thought the western expansion was a Hidden Valley thing?

As for 7Springs - GOOD QUESTION! I'd like to know too.
Many people would like to see movement on Laurel's resort and get that open. Not gonna happen. I'd think they would upgrade their north face lift to go faster than a snail before they would do that.

I heard they are NOT going to be upgrading the lift this year.

I did hear they are going to take out a few trees off to the left of the gunnar lift for some more glade action, and are also considering some snowmaking in the glade area...

other than that, nothing else. Was disappointed when I heard they were not planning to upgrade north face lift this year. Apparently they made that decision in Feb?! Where was I?

I believe the proposed expansion at springs was called the great western territory. It seemed to be discussed a lot more 7-8 years ago. Here's a link to an old thread on dcski.

If I remember correctly the lift for that expansion would be in a dry (no alcohol) Township. The residents living there voted against a variance for 7S. Shortly after that talk of expansion went away. There were grand plans for a village core build out around the current hotel/base area with the main resort access moved to the North Parking Lot. If I remember correctly all that was a part of the Master Plan before Mr.Nutting bought the resort. I found this old story:

Any time a new owner/consortium takes over a ski resort in many cases resort consultant advice the new owner to have some sort of a master plan in hand. This will show the existing cliental that the new owner has a plan to move the resort forward. In most cases - just like we - plans almost never finish as it is planned. That's in my opinion a good move since time and needs change. We as riders should not be surprised of that anyway. Regarding the expansion - the slope faces South West and is not an ideal ski slope in terms of snowmaking. Maybe for a beginner area you might use such a facing slope. I can see why it never did develop into a real project and why it will be never developed. Maybe the prior owner used it as a justification for logging the tress. Anyway, master plans will always be a part of a new owner/consortium just like a business plan. Don't read too much into it. Keep sliding!
