Well, it looks like both Loveland and A-Basin started making snow last night - right on the Loveland schedule that has been in place since June.
Now the race is on to see which of the two will open first. My bet is on the Basin because it only has to cover 600 feet of vert allowing use of Black Mountain Express, while Loveland has to cover about 1000 feet of vert to use Chair One.
Assuming the weather continues to cooperate, we'll probably have skiing within about two weeks.
Glad to see they are blowing snow in Loveland and A-Basin. It looks like I am headed out to Colorado for a few days in late October. I may have to bring my skis and make some turns on a White RIbbon Of Death in October. Turns in October will probably leave me plenty impatient for snowmaking to get cranking around here in December (or late November if we are fortunate).
The groomers are out at A-Basin. It looks like they have to get snow down on about the last 50 feet of vert in order to open. Forecast are for good snowmaking weather starting tonight, so I expect the Basin to be open by no later than Sunday.

Arapahoe Basin just announced they are openeing Sunday on their facebook. One day I want to live in Colorado instead of Columbus. It will be another 2-3 months before anything out here is open.
