...to say the least cell phone service in the valley for AT&T customers has sucked it up for ever...last winter almost 2 months without service...early spring and past few weeks spotty at best...I spoke with customer service rep this am and she said they are currently converting the valley tower to a 3G tower(should be up and going in next week or so) and they are going to convert the Davis tower to 3G by Sept...at least that is what I was told...I will believe it when I see it though...

So the cellphone technology in the valley will only be a decade behind smile.

I guess the customer base isn't there in the valley to support AT&T and likely other carriers to bring things up to 4g. I think 4g requires more towers as the signal doesn't travel as far, so 3g makes sense.

That's strange, mine is with ATT and I have generally gotten a good signal. I am using a stoopid phone though?

I have heard 3G is coming soon from more than one Davis local. Fingers crossed.

I get decient signal on ATT smartass phone most places.

I gave up on trying to get Frontier to install webbernets at the condo, 6 strikes and your out. mad

Luckily I can just go to the coffee shop or the BWB parking lot.

I went to send a picture last night on my phone and set it down since it always takes minutes to send...within 10-15 seconds I heard the 'whoosh'.. Perplexed I looked at the phone and noticed not a 3G in the upper left, but a 4G! (I guess only the tower that is on canaan heights got upgraded because folks deeper in the valley reported spotty signal still)

So the valley has better service than the county capitol down in parson where the majority of the county actually lives! It's still E down there. (edge network)

Colonel - per the SS FB page on 7/26 in reply to a guest post.

Yes, we are very excited to share that cell phone coverage has been extended and AT&T now receives a strong signal through the entire Village and Mountain Lodge parking lot and coverage at The Boathouse and lake area. Next week we will be sharing our coverage map and announcing additional connectivity plans!

I have been at Snowshoe all week long, pretty much the entire Village has 5-bar reception in the Village itself, with directional augmenters (omnidirectional antennas are forbidden by law due to the United States National Radio Quiet Zone). Once you get out of the Village, however, you get very little reception except facing West towards the Summit Condos. You can see the big white boxes perched atop the eaves in the Village buildings. And as well, WiFi reception seems to be virtually everywhere in the Village.

I got an advertisement from Sprint this weekend where they advertised the growth of their 4G LTE network in WV. The map indicates 4G (in the near future) from Baker to the Mt Storm areas. The map didn't pinpoint cities or towns or even roads, just state and county boundaries. So it looks like 4G LTE is coming to the valley soon!
