Good News about Chair #1 cut from Blue Knob Marketing E-Mail:
Getting Ready for Ski Season
The No. #1 chairlift that allows good skiers to get off/on at mid station is being completely reworked including a new cable (2 miles long), new gears and complete over hauling of the bull wheels including new bearings, gears, wiring, etc.). All the other chairs are being inspected in total and any problems or potential problems repaired. We have had both Caterpillar (builder of the bull wheels and motors) and Doppelmayr (lift manufacturer) inspect and support the process.
Every year we do a complete inspection as required by the state, but this year we have gone way beyond the state requirements. We try to do this every 5 years just to make sure we don't have problems with things that are not part of the required inspection.
As usual, we continue to update the snow making equipment and groomers to insure that we have them in the best condition possible.

Thanks for the update Henry. That is good news about chair #1!
I was happy to hear it when I received the news from them. Getting that chair running and continuing to increase their snowmaking capabilities are the two things Blue Knob needs to do to it a go to place for the hardcore Mid-Atlantic skiers.
How do you guys get notified? I've signed for their email list, sent letters to the resort but still no e or snail mails from them.

I've been on their mailing list for a couple of years. I guess I got lucky signing up for it when the system was working.
it was the chair or the mailling list, I guess.
This is fantastic news! Big deal for me coming from Columbus. I hope the snowmaking improvements are notable and they have a solid new GM.
Whenever I visited in Jan it seemed their snowmaking was pumping pretty decently so it should be even better! Blue Knob is great the way it is but has the most untapped potential out of any PA resort IMO.
