Can anybody see this? Am I logged in? I thought so, but I can't go from here to any thread. It asks me to log in again. Appears to be an endless loop.
It appears that I can post on any thread but must log in again every time. Had no such problem with the old site. Can this be fixed?
Let's see what happens.
Did not have to log in (again) to post my previous response.

OK, stay with me here. I have now logged in at least half a dozen times. Each time I go back to the forum and read another thread. There is no reply box at the bottom of the page. Instead there is a light blue box inviting me to shout it out. This box contains a link to log in once again. OK, i do it, then go to another thread and once again cannot get a reply box unless I log in again. This is a serious inconvenience and annoyance. I need a "KEEP ME LOGGED. IN" button. The old site had one.
if needed, I am using an iPad with the Dolphin browser.
Works with Safari on iPad. :). It gives me the option to stay logged in. Interesting.
Now I'm having problems with Firefox. Denis, look what you caused!
Looks like the session cookie is not persistent, so after I close the browser I need to re-authenticate in the next browser session. Didn't see a remember me checkbox on the login page.
Oops, spoke too soon. If I go to another thread I have to hit the log in button again. But, now when I get to the login page it already has my name and password. I just need to hit the log in button again. This is much easier than having to enter everything again. Progress, but issues remain.
Please keep posting your experiences. This is something I'll be looking into, and the more data I get, the better. I thought I had designed the session cookie to be valid for 30 days, but I'll need to dig into that more.

Scott,
Can you add the "jump to the newest post" button to the top of each topic, currently it only shows up when you are logged in.

Done! You should now see the button at the top of a topic when you aren't logged in.
iPad post while drinking a bud. Can see the widgets.
Finished the bud, posted on another thread, drinking a Skyy, still able to post on this thread (no second login required.)
Cheap drink night.

Yeah, I think I fixed it. At least, it should keep you authenticated for 24 hours or so. I'll probably still tinker with it a bit.
Jus tried 2 more threads, 2 more log ins required.

Denis, are you experiencing this just on the iPad? Have you tried connecting from a computer?
Posting to a second thread in the same session. Mac OS X with Safari. Seems to work.

Why can't you just reply? The only option I have is "quoted reply". I usually delete the quoted part.
Also, posts with many pages takes a while to scroll through all those to get to the most current post.
Perhaps I am just resistant to change, but the posting functions of the old DCSKI worked very well.
Scott - thank you for your work!!

If you're using a computer with a keyboard, you can just hit the "end" key (at least in most browsers) to instantly scroll to the bottom of the page, where the reply box is. That might not work on touch devices, though. I'll consider adding a second reply button that scrolls to the bottom of the page but doesn't quote the text.
I don't get a quote button, or any button except log in and create a profile at the bottom of the page. I haven't tried using my laptop, which I rarely use. It's ancient, slow, and should probably be donated to the smithsonian, but there is nobody there to receive it today. I like my iPad.
