FYI, there's a nice piece on the Dupre Family of Seven Springs fame in the latest hardcopy issue of Ski Magazine, Nov 2013. It's only a couple of pages, but it's nice and the focus is primarily on the Herman and Sis branch of the family. Four other prominent American ski families are also profiled in this extended segment by Edith Thys Morgan called Family Ties. I can't find it online, but will add a link here if I eventually do. There is a nice family theme running through this entire issue of the magazine.
I saw that a few days ago. Interesting to note that the author says that Seven Springs had the second rope tow in the US in 1938. That has to be a misprint. The first rope tow operated in Woodstock, VT beginning Jan. 18,1934. If I remember correctly a placard at the bottom of the Blitzen Chair which now serves the Super Pipe said the Dupre tow began operation the following season, the 1934/35 season. The original tow line was a sweet ski until the terra forming for the pipe/park wiped it out and the placard at the bottom of the lift removed.
I digress, the story was a nice look at Herman and his family, a nice tribute to a pioneering ski family.
Based on the many employees that worked for the Dupre family that I have met over the years, some who still live in my hometown, not one unkind word about the Dupres. That speaks volumes too.
