...20 degrees last night, below freezing now w/ spitting snow in the valley, 20 degrees forecasted for tonight, and a bigger drop in temps next week forecasted...Snowshoe is blowin' snow w/ plans to open in about 2 1/2 weeks, sounds like Timberline is going to attempt to fire the guns up for a few days next week with a now announced Dec 12 opening....any other ski hills in the area going to go for it next week?...Canaan has announced a Dec 14 opening---will they put all there newly invested snowmaking equipment to use?
It looks like timberline is blowing snow this morning also. With any luck they should be open to the mid station by Christmas.
...I'll believe it when I see it, but heard at the lumber yard today that Canaan is going to hit it full blast this week...
Now maybe we will get to see what CV got for those millions spent over the past 2 years to improve snowmaking cabilities!

emmm Georgina Spelvin i believe blows the hardest :-D
Timberline has fired up their snowguns.
It looks like Canaan has shut down snowmaking, as has winterplace. Snowshoe and Timberline are still going strong. I can not wait for this season to get here,
I must confess, I've visited the Snowshoe webcam at least 20X today. I really like the feature on the resortcams page that allows one to click on various time lapse scenarios.
...ok here we go, I don't know about other locations but forecast for this coming week in the valley look good for snowmaking...Canaan has now announced a new opening ski season day of Dec 7---with a trail from the top of the mountain open---so they are going to have to throw everything at it to hit that....Timberline has apparently rented and placed the blackwater pump in place before thanksgiving this year!...is the weather looking good for other resort locations in the mid a to make snow?...who's going to take advantage and really blow the hardest?
I was hoping to see Hidden Valley going strong since it's in the high 20s up here in "Picksberg" right now. Their dog gone camera is not working. The local weather is calling for a winter weather advisory this evening + tomorrow for the areas of 7S, HV, TL and CV.
SS is rocking and rolling as of 9 AM.
Mother Nature!!...Got up this morn and watched it streaming off of Lake superior...its worked down to LK Huron and and Michigan..next stop Erie...then..Canaan!...and the rest of the western front Alpps...
According to whitetail's website they will be making snow! Slopes around the area should look very white come this time next weekend
Snowmaking is on at whitetail!
Lights and snowguns on at Massanutten! Even a little snow spotted in Winchester.
Web cams show all VA resorts making snow EXCEPT for Homestead!

Wintergreen posted several pics of snowmaking on their Facebook page. Nice to see that given how little info was available there in past years. Seems like the new management has gotten communication with the public sorted out better.
