I will be in Boston, with my wife's sister and family. When there for T Day it is mandatory to meet some of my VT skiing friends in the Wachusett parking lot at about 7:30 on Thanksgiving morn, skin up and ski down. Conditions are often heinous but that's part of the fun. 2 years ago all the adults took off their skis and walked down while my 3 grandsons pedal hopped all the way down hooting and hollering. Wachusett normally opens on Fri after thanksgiving and we get first tracks on whatever built up base is there. This year it has been unseasonably cold and they opened last week. They are friendly to skinning but only in non operating hours. Any DCSkiers in the Boston area on Thurs. Are welcome to join us. Afterward we will partake of breakfast beers and swap stories and lies in the parking lot.
I wish you all a happy holiday, and adventures of your own.
To all DCSkiers,
Give thanks for all, especially being able to slide on snowy hillsides!
I'm a bit jealous for those getting first turns this weekend
Be safe and respect the wild weather forecast for this week.

Indeed...it looks like a very happy holiday weekend for those of you with easy slope access! I have to wait a couple of weeks but I will be able to take advantage of something in the Mid A on Sunday December the 8th...not an option that is available every year.
Travel and slide safely!
Along the theme of giving thanks I made a post on EpicSki that was sort of an appreciation of online ski forums, including DCSki. Way to go Scott!

60 degrees in Worcester, http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=42.2625932&lon=-71.8022934&site=all&smap=1&searchresult=Worcester%2C%20MA%2C%20USA#.UpYHuee9KSP
Heavy rain all day followed by a flash freeze and a dusting before dawn tomorrow. A Grinch that stole Christmas scenario. A couple of us will be there anyway.
The turkeys almost got the worst of it. About 20 of them ran across Rt. 140 approaching the mountain. I almost hit one.
The skiing was actually a bit better than usual. Last week The oncoming big storm had us dreaming of powder but the the Grinch showed up. On Wed. It was 60 degrees in Worcester and poured rain all day, followed by a flash freeze in the pre dawn hours. The Ranger# and the keeper of the ski dungeon (100 pairs of mostly Junkers in his basement) appeared at the appointed hour. We skinned up the machinery highway over frozen tank tread tracks and driveway plow rubble. Fortunately 10th mountain had no tank tracks but much bare ground between snowmaking mounds that had frozen as smooth and hairless as cue balls. They skied quite well, if noisily. Each turn scraped up at least a dozen flakes of snow or ice and edges held. Then the traditional liquid breakfast and bull session was held in the parking lot. A good time was had by all!
