The 'fearless canaan weatherman' Bob Leffler is in disagreement with the public forecasts and is calling for only 4-6" :(
an inch of rain so far today and still fairly heavy. kinda like first few storms of last year....puke rain, flip the switch to snow. Will be nice if the cold and wind comes first for a bunch of hours so the snow falls on crust instead of a river.
Nice to hear from ya Chaga...there was estmated to be two inches of liquid with this storm so with an inch or so down there is still the cold air dropping down to clash with the caboose low thats still down around Alabama which will wind up the I 95 corridor.with the rest of what moisture is left for snow....33 at the shoe at 1am.....getting close to the main event!
PS..usually NWS under est the snow totals for the high country...I think they got a little excited with this one..lets see if they know something!
PS pt 2...everyone is below freezing...since a little after 1am..little dry slot has developed for things to get Crunchy for ya Chaga...u should like that!...(Crunchy for Chaga...I crack myself up)..ole school would get that..

We only got 4", he was spot on again. Most of that came wed night into thursday as the lake-effect bands rolled through, so lots of drifting with the winds that makes whitegrass skiable with the snow fences. Mainly he said the change over from rain to snow would happen after 4am and not earlier like the public forecasts were stating. Bob Leffler is real good. (he is a retired noaa guy) and usually disagreees with the under-predictions for the high country and is rarely wrong. The last two storms (this one and last weekend) he predicted less than the public forecasts and was right on. (he added me to his list so I can fwd info to the county school superintendant, but ill be happy to post it here too)
Please do! Where does he live?
