Weds I took off with the wife and 2 year old son to see if he would take to skiing at a very early age. He was ok with the gear but wasnt thrilled with the act of sliding. He was more intrested in playing in the snow without his skis on and climbing up the stairs to the lodge. Thus ended our quick day.
With time to spend we drove around toward the condos and on the way back down I noticed large piles of something white the next hill/mountain over. As we drove more back down the hill from the villages / condos, off to the right I noticed more piles and what appeared to be snow making poles. I just looked on google sat maps and found them. Any idea what these are for? THey had huge piles of snow there.

Good chance home of HKD snowmaking. Herman tinkering.
Warm winter has those piles smallest I've seen this time of year.
.
That is the R&D facility for HKD and the snow usually last until almost July.
I remeber seeing that place 10-15 years ago when I was coming down from the condos. I thought back then it was some close by ski resort (I knew hidden valley was around there somewhere but had never been). Thanks for setting me straight! It seemed like it was an odd place for a ski hill.
Very cool. But why make big piles? I guess I would if I owned a mountain and a snow maker building business.
Was hoping it was a new area being laid out for xpansion. :(
well. Guess they have something to grab snow from for their halfpipe. They need to have that area operational very soon for the comp.
7 springs has nothing to do with HKD anymore. They just try to make as much snow as possible every year with the latest technology.
