So, we left Davis this morning and the snow was full on. We asked, "Is there an alternative to 33 to Harrisonburg?" They said, "Sure, take 93 over to the new highway, it's great!" We set out on 93. Blizzard ! No plows, No traffic. Eventually we end up in Petersburg, go up to Mooresville, and then to I-81. Took forever. What did I miss - how do you get from 93 to the new highway ?
Otherwise, great 3 days in the valley. Hit Timberline, Whitegrass, and Canaan ski areas. New snow on Sunday. At tline, the drop was a sweetie but the wall was a bitch. 3 mile trail at whitegrass, still sore. Canaan suffered, all windswept but no lines and cheap tickets are agood. Left for home today, snowing like crazy of course.

What did you miss? The right turn, of course.
Heading from Davis, the entrance to Corr H is a right, about 200 feet or so BEFORE the Liberty gas station at the T intersection at top of the Allegheny Ridge. Bismarck I think? (Just a few minutes past the power plant/dam.)
The turn is not that well marked. Plus as you saw, WV-93 can be a bear during snow. Especially with some of the current construction on it.

Well gawl-durn it ! I remember that Liberty station and had no idea we were that close to salvation. I was probably focused on a random approaching semi truck going light speed. The next half hour was another unplowed thrill ride down the 10% grade. Thanks WVDOT !!!!

Those big boys can be scary. At a minimum, you're guaranteed to get 3 inches of water/snow on your windshield.
On a trip up (Sat AM) this past winter, one of the trucks speeding towards me had his driver-side wheels slighly over the center and I could tell by the wobble of them that he didn't have complete control of his rig.
Glad that passed without incident. Not all the close calls are on teh slopes.
....and that right turn is probably marked Route 48, not Corridor H.

Good point. None of the road signs are labeled Corridor H. The official designation is now Route 48. (Though it overlaps with Route 55 in some points, IIRC.)
yep, we knew it was 48, but ... I ... just ... plain ... missed ... it. :(
but, the signs do have a litle blue WVA map with a white H in it.
