Does any one hard boot snow board any more? Saw the event in the winter olympics. Apline Snowboarding it is called offically.  It looks like ski boots on a one way snowboard. Looks very cool and a more "grown up" way to snowboard. I recall seeing someone at Liberty a few times on one of these and I saw someone in NE in December. But I have never scene more than one of these folks on the hill at a time.

I figure this never caught on as it was too much like skiing to be cool. But with snowboarding dying (See other post) you never know

It's not pupular at all.  I do see the occasional hard boot rider at 7springs but it's extrememly rare.  Last year I road the lift with a guy who had a 1980's Monoski!  That was pretty amazing! ha

There are still a few of us out riding.  I think a lot of riders would actually enjoy it if they had a chance to give it a try.  Especially the freeriders that aren't interested in the park or pipe scene.  Its tough to find gear so getting the oppurtunity to try it so pretty difficult.  Most hardbooters will be very helpful if you want to give it a go though.  Some would be willing to let you use one of their boards for an afternoon, I know I would.  Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation, hardbooters tend to be evanglists and are happy to bring new members into the cult.

If anyone happens to be at Stratton this coming week, you will have a chance to see lots of Alpine riders in action and demo gear.  The East Coast Expression Session is going on, it happens somewhere in the Northeast every other season.  There will probably be more that 100 riders in attendance.
