After waiting for years for my wife to retire or semi retire a plan is now well underway. We will be moving permanently to San Francisco, America's most beautiful and cosmopolitan city, 3 hours from tahoe's ski areas. Our daughter and family are in the East Bay as is one of my sisters. Downsizing our "stuff" and other preparations have been underway for some time and we hope to sell the house and move in the spring or early summer.
We'll be leaving behind many great friends. Thanks for the memories of good times and good turns shared. I have probably made my last turns in the east. I am in CA now with season passes at Kirkwood and Sierra at Tahoe. Our daughter and family have theirs at Kirkwood. Make some turns for me and look for my continued participation in DCSki.
Denis,
Very sorry that you are leaving the DC area, but congrats on finding a great city for your wife (and you) with proximity to family and awesome skiing.
It was great skiing with you at Timberline and in Utah. Along with sharing a beer or two at various places. Along with some great ski stories. Hopefully we can share a reeb at Sierra or Kirkwood soon. You'll be missed, but nice move.
Thanks John. You and all DCSkiers have an open invitation to ski here with me. Just give me a shout.
Denis, "Say it ain't so!" You will be sorely missed, but I am delighted that your voice of sliding reason will continue here on DCSki.
Hard to believe that you really can stay away from Canaan, Mad River Glen and Mt. Washington forever?!
Take Care my DCSki friend, I fondly remember sking with you one day at Alta.
The Colonel
I'm glad I had a chance to meet the man who wrote so mant great trip reports. I'm sorry I never had the chance to ski with you. I don't think I ever would have tried White Grass if not for your reports. Thanks for sharing the stoke.
Sorry to hear that you are leaving DC, but I'm sure you will enjoy San Fransico. San Fransico is one of my favorite cities, and being in driving distance of Tahoe is great as well.
This ain't goodbye, it's just the grand opening of the DCSki west coast extension office. Happy trails until we meet again!
Dennis, I wish you the best. The one constant in life is change and I'm envious of your bold move. I hope to some time ski a few runs with you somewhere where the adventure is fresh and the snow is deep. Stay active on the board.
Happy joy to you both in your new location. Post up TRs with lots of pics.

Bon Voyage, until we ski again.
Sierra at Tahoe has the best tree skiing! Was skiing there in 82' on the day when the Alpine Meadows avalance occurred. Only a handful of resorts open that day as the end of March beginning of April produced 10'+ of sierra cement. Sierra doesn't seem to have the avalanche danger like a number of resorts and from the bay area is more accessible during heavy snowfall.
