We all predicted it was going to happen and prices would go up with the Hidden Valley purchase. If I remember correctly it was only 445 last year. So, pretty good price hike there Bob. I'm done next year is the year I go elsewhere I'm tired of the lines, poor service and grooming. No investment in on the mountain improvements again this year. Give us a new high speed lift or terrain expansion and I will gladly pay the price hike. But, I just don't see it happening.

Unless I mis-read the rate sheet on Wisp' s web site, best price on '13-'14 pass was $479.  IMO 7S definitely has more/varied/better terrain.  Snowshoe has great pass rates but, add the hours of driving to get there to the vert/hour value, 7S comes out on top.

Buccos have 3rd lowest payroll in MLB in 2014 after a record breaking attendance year. Ranked 30th out of 30 MLB teams in offseason improvements. This guy is all about one thing... making money for himself. I know of no philanthropic activities that Nutting is a part of. He is an a$$clown, but when you're the only game in town....

It's not like you are without options. Blue Knob announced their pass for $299, purchased by March 31st

Hidden Valley posted their info today as well, looks like it's about $100 less ($399).  But there was no info, unless I missed it, about the Highlands Pass.  So does anyone know, is that no longer an option for 2014/15?

I can't imagine that they would discontinue the Highlands Pass. They can charge more for it, and it is a way to leverage having the 2 resorts.

But then again I was shocked when they shot down the idea of haviing a shuttle bus between the 2 resorts as "not being cost effective", even though that would seem to be and obvious point of integration if they really want to become a destination resport one day..  Maybe the cost of printing out 2 kinds of season passes is also not cost efffective, ink and paper costing what it does these days.

The Highlands Pass is available on the 7 Springs site for $539 and it also states that if you pay with cash or check before April 30th, you will recieve a 5% discount. The total would be $512.05 and they also state the following.....

As a special offer to our current 2013-2014 Ski and Snowboard Season Passholders only, if you purchase your 2014-2015 ski pass by April 30, 2014, you’ll receive a Seven Springs Gift Card!

$50 Seven Springs Gift Card* if you purchase a regular season pass: adult, junior, senior, child, or college student!

$25 Seven Springs Gift Card* if you purchase a midweek season pass: adult, junior, senior or child!

It appears to me like 7 Springs is making an effort for returning pass holders and if you do the math, the prices haven't really changed.

I love how people bitch and moan about prices going up and not seeing anything in return for the price increase, but fail to compliment 7 Springs on all the improvements that have been made over the course of Nuttings ownership.

They are basically offering the same discounts at HV. $50 gift card and a 5% discout if you pay by cash or check. With the pass at $399 subtract 5% ($20) and consider you spend the $50 at HV for something you would have spent $50 on anyway and your at $329 which is actually less than last year. So I really have no complaints. A highlands pass is $539 at HV also.

I await the Pittsburgher's complaining never the less.

You obviously are not a 7 springs passholder as this 50 gift card is something they have traditionally offered for buying your pass in april. Bottom line 2 years ago I paid 399 for my season pass now its 489. That's almost a 25% percent increase in a short time.

Also, Nic223 taking about all the improvements Nutting has made at 7 springs. What exactly are you taking about? No increased lift capacity, no terrain expansion, no significant investment in new snowmaking technology or guns and worse grooming under this ownership. Are you skiing at the same resort as me? Sorry in advance I'm not a gnarly boarder or park skier so the new terrain park every year isn't really doing it for me.

Name one ski area in the Mid-Atlantic that has added new terrain in the 2 or 3 years.

Fmi1, I am a passholder at 7 Springs and I am referring to the improvements that have been made on the whole resort.  You can not walk into a single building at 7 Springs with out seeing a major difference.  I guess none that stuff matters to you, but it does to me.  I use the resort as a year around facility and don't expect every dollar I spend on skiing to go directly back into the slopes or expansion.   Furthermore, if you ask me, I think 2 high speed 6 packs are more than adequate for a resort in Western PA.  Please tell me where else you can go that is going to offer you EVERYTHING and more.

I don't deny Bobber has made improvements to the building and facilities. However, since I can't ski in a building I would love it if he actually did something on the hill. I realize you can't make all your capital improvements on the mountain itself but give me something anything I've been waiting since 2006.

Also, no I don't think 2 high speed 6 packs are enough when there are 30 minute lift lines on the weekends. It's a start but the 15 minute north face chair ride and stowe and avalanche chairs from the 80's just aren't cutting it. Holiday Valley has gotten 5 new chair lifts since we've had 1.

Maybe your satisified with the same mountain product every year or your Bobber's cousin. But, sorry I'm not I see a 7 springs that could be so much more.

Increasing uphill capacity without adding terrain will cause injuries and dangerous overcrowded trails. Epic ski had a forum discussion about when and where high speed lifts are appropriate. And increasing terrain is not something that can just happen. I don't know all the details but from what I understand the western expansion would have been in another county, which sounds like a logistics nightmare.

On a side note maybe they are working on your lift line problem by raising prices...

What do you mean Seven Springs hasn't added any new terrain in the past few years? They added 6 ft. to either side of the super pipe and built the North Park mini pipe which has been MIA the last few years. Don't forget the frontside terrain park, The Ghetto, I mean The Streets. All of that cost a ton of money and at least half a season's worth of snowmaking.

No crowds at 7S on Sunday.  Maybe the 50+ temps on Fri and Sat near Pgh scared off the peeps?  We arrived Sun AM and it was barely 20*.  Conditions were VERY firm in the tree / bump areas.  Trails were groomed but icey in spots.

Blue bird day and limited crowds allowed us to do laps all over the mountain.

Re: 7S lift capacty v terrain. Any long time regulars notice how the main North Face is almost nearly empty while Gunnar and Giant Steps and the backside 6 always swamped on the weekends. A high speed quad on the North face would spread that backside traffic around and more would actually ski the North Face again.
