New pass coming from Intrawest, sort of a Mountain Collective type thing.  $549 allows six days at six different Intrawest Mtns from Snowshoe to Steamboat with some "grandparent-friendly" perks such as five kids under age 12 ski free with each passholder.  See slopefillers article about the pass:

A new product, The Intrawest Passport, launches tomorrow. Starting at $549, it gives the holder 6 days of riding at 6 different resorts ”“ Winter Park, Steamboat, Blue Mountain, Mont Tremblant, Stratton, and Snowshoe. Plus, the holder becomes the gatekeeper of some hefty family perks. Kids under 12 ski free (five with each pass), teens are $199 each, and additional adults (up to fifteen) are $399.

Thats Blue Mountain in Ontario, not PA. And it's 6 days at each resort, not total.

It's a weird pass. Not sure if this would be better than any existing Intrawest passes, i.e. Season Pass at Snowshoe.

For a family of four (two kids under 12), that's still $949. If one the the kids is over 12, that's $1149. That seems like a lot of upfront money for me for a "casual audience" pass.

Are Snowhoe's season passes still 200 if you buy early?

Thanks Jim for calling this to DCSkiers attention!!!  This really quite a deal!!!

Wonder if Snowshoe would consider refunding already purchased season passes only if dollars are then used to purchase the  new Intrawest  All Mountain Family Passport.  This would still allow 6 Free days of family skiing at snowshoe plus 6 days at other Intrawest resorts!!!

Some people are saying that the secondary passholders do not even need to be family.  Be interesting to read all the fine print.

I was just up skiing at Okemo in Vermont with my wife and we were joined by our friends Janet and Kerry and their two sons.  While there, Janet lamented on the high cost of skiing for families.  “Everything is times four”, she said.  Thus, a day of skiing costs them almost four hundred dollars.  Well, I have good news for Janet and all of the skiing families.  Intrawest has just launched a new Season Pass program that allows kids to ski for free.  When one adult buys a pass for $549 then up to five kids (12 and under) may ski on that pass FREE.  Each additional adult family member may buy a pass for only $399. And a teen pass costs just $199.  The pass is good for six days of skiing at SIX INTRAWEST RESORTS!!!  And there are no blackout dates!  The resorts include several of my favorites””Snowshoe, Tremblant, Stratton, Steamboat and Winter Park, plus Ontario’s Blue Mountain.  Therefore, a family of four through seven can get in six days of skiing at six great resorts for a total cost of $948.  The more kids the better the bargain.  So don’t hold back on having that big family because you are worried about the high cost of skiing!

This deal is only good through March 14th.  Jump onto it quickly and be ready for an excellent ski season in 2014-15.

The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ First-Ever Ski Pass to Redefine “Family Pass” and Offer Free Skiing to Children 12 and Under

DENVER, Colorado (March 6, 2014)(NYSE: SNOW) ”“ Making ski-industry history, The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ will offer children 12 and under free skiing, as well as redefine what a “Family Pass” is all about. Intrawest Resorts Holdings, Inc., the parent company of several North American ski resorts, announced today the introduction of The Intrawest Passportâ„¢, a season pass that includes six days of skiing at each of six participating North American ski resorts. The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ is designed to make destination skiing easier and offer more flexibility and value for families in the 2014-2015 season. The game-changing pass is a first of its kind in the industry as it changes the rules on the definition of family.

“Times are changing and so is the traditional family structure. Intrawest understands those changes. Whether you’re a traditional, single parent, or tri-generational family we’ve created The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ to give your family the most flexibility and affordability to come ski or snowboard our mountains,” Bill Jensen, CEO, Intrawest Resorts, explains.

With no blackout dates the flexibility means families can use The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ to travel on holidays or whenever it’s easiest for them.  The Intrawest Passport’sâ„¢ special introductory price is being offered on a sliding scale, with the primary adult Passport initially offered at $549, additional adults at $399, 13-20 year olds at $199, and children 12 and under are free.

“Skiing has been passed on from parent to child for several generations. We want to encourage the passion for the sport of skiing and snowboarding for the next generation by offering true value to families,” Jensen explains.

The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ will allow guests to ski/ride for six days during the 2014-2015 ski season at each of Steamboat Springs and Winter Park in Colorado; Blue Mountain in Ontario; Mont Tremblant in Quebec; Stratton Mountain in Vermont; and Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia.

The biggest differentiators for The Intrawest Passportâ„¢:

·      Children 12 and under ski free

·      Flexibility to define your “family” the way it works best for you. This can include extended family members, stepfamilies, non-traditional families and even good friends that are like family.

·      After the first primary adult pass is purchased, families can purchase up to 15 additional Passports, including:

o   Five additional discounted adult Passports for $399 each

o   Five Teen Passports for $199 each

o   Five children under 12 ski free passes

·      Extended age for “Teen” Passport: allows teens and young adults through age 20 to receive the discount.

A traditional young family of four can ski at all six resorts for as little as $948, making it the most affordable inter-mountain pass on the market.

In addition, The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ only requires one adult pass to be purchased, which means a single parent and up to five children can all ski at six resorts, for a total of 36 days each for as low as $549.

The Intrawest Passportâ„¢ goes on sale this Friday, March 7th and will be offered at this special introductory price through Friday, March 14th.

As someone without kids this pass is quite underwhelming to me.
