As some of you already know from the eBlast, Liftopia decided to adjust their approach for 2014-15. For some resorts, there will be the option to pay a little more to get a more flexible advanced-purchase lift ticket voucher. The standard fixed date, no refund vouchers are called Value and are discounted the most. For Value Plus and Flexible, the voucher can be used on the date specified or a later date. The additional amount needed for Value Plus or Flexible depends on the location. Examples run from $5-10.

·
Value lift tickets are date-specific, non-refundable and non-changeable. Same as before.
· Value Plus lift tickets offer added flexibility, allowing a one-time date change during the season.
· Flexible lift tickets offer the ultimate flexibility with unlimited date changes during the season.
If Value Plus and Flexible tickets are changed to dates that are more expensive, customers will just pay the difference in price. Customers will never be charged separate change fees.

Some examples of Value, Value Plus and Flexible lift tickets for specific dates:
· Arapahoe Basin, CO ”“ Purchase lift tickets in advance for the last week in December (Dec. 29-Jan. 2) and get a Value ticket starting at $58.99, or 35 percent off the walk-up rate; Value Plus starting at $64.99, or 27 percent off the walk-up rate; or Flexible starting at $69.99, or 21 percent off thewalk-up rate.

For anyone going to A-Basin (and other places that offer them, I presume), but now knowing exactly when they are going or even WHO is going, the resort actually offers the best low cost options:
4-pack $129 for- 4 days of skiing/riding at any time during the season (32.25/day) for a single person
TRANSFERABLE 4-pack $149 - good for anyone at any time during the season ($37.25/day) potentially for multiple people
The packs are not offered all season, so people going to the Basin would need to buy them before the area stops selling them

Can't think of any other big mountains that offer a transferable multi-pack for that kind of pricing. May be a few though.
Reminded me of the NY Ski3 Pass. Good at Whiteface, Gore, or Belleayre. It's $99/adult, less for students and kids. Price depends on which is the "home mountain" where the first day is included and every 6th day is free. Other days are 50% weekends and 25% on weekends and holidays. Also can bring a friend on Tue or Thu and get them a half-price lift ticket.
Gore replaced an original lift that starts at the base. Should make the lift line for the gondola less of an issue on weekends.

Loveland does. The area give anyone who buys a 4-pack 4 lift tickets. Not surprising since Loveland has to compete with the Basin. It's acutally a better deal than that at the Basin -- $129 gets you 4 lift tickets. Concievably all 4 could be used by a group of 4 on the same day..
Denis, the article is from 10/2008 and their homepage link for deals still list last season's deals. I didn't see any deals listed yet for the coming season but thanks for the link. I bookmarked SkiMaven for future reference.
Thanks LHC. I saw a link to this years deal on the SKIVT List a while ago, but was too lazy to look it up now that I live in Cali. The program is running for this season but I recall that they sell a limited number of these things, first come, first served. Still busy, in Chicago helping my son renovate a 100 year old classic house, mostly by babysitting my 3 yr old granddaughter while he does most of the work.
That maven page has some nice reports on backcountry. I once did the Woodward Mountain tour, a long, committing, and beautiful trip. It was in 2001 I believe, the last really big VT snow year. I recall asking our guide if there were many glades that open in northern VT. He replied, no, we are skiing over the tops of 20 foot high trees. There were huge drifts and wind ripples up there as we crested one after another of a series of small summits on a long ridge line. That site also reports on the much better known Bolton to Trapp traverse, an unfulfilled goal of mine.
