The cold weather allowed SS to blow snow like crazy last week. The man made snow coupled with the few inches of natural snow made for an excellent weekend of skiing.
Friday was fantastic with limited crowds and very fast conditions. Saturday was typically crowded near Ballhooter. We ventured over to Cupp Run only to find they were blowing snow on Cupp during the day. We made one miserable run down Cupp and were turned into human popsicles by the time we got to the bottom.
They managed to open Upper Shays on Sunday. As of Sunday, there was NO snowmaking on lower Shays so I'm not sure when that will be opened.
Hopefully the photo below is not any DC Ski member who made duct tape repairs to their ski pants! We sure got a good laugh in the lift line.
Good to hear that the slopes are doing well there. My 6 year old daughter has duct tape on one of the sleeves of her jacket, no shame in that :) It just needs to last the rest of this season before she outgrows it!
