Skied Kirkwood today. NWS said they'd get 1/2" or so, the first snow in a month, but it turned out to be 2-3 of wet powder with substance which skied much deeper than that and I doubt there were 100 people on the whole mountain. It snowed lightly all day with fog at times. I never ventured off the lower mountain, just followed my mantra of never leave good snow to find good snow. I was also concerned about vertigo. I went partly as an act of faith, lest I forget that all skiing is good, and was rewarded with a day that far exceeded expectations.
+1 for the positive vibes. Thanks, Denis.
Keep the snow dances going Denis. See you in a few weeks. We can do the Wave together and find the Slot and if we hit the Wall we can go down the Drain. Then make another Notch in our ski poles:-)
I skied Heavenly on 1/23 and 1/24. They are REALLY in dire need of some snow out here. I still enjoyed myself though; the perfect blue skies both days didn't hurt. 175 out of 4800 acres open though....and lift tickets are not discounted from the full $115 a day.
As of now Kirkwood has a season total of 112", and Heavenly has 46". Kirkwood is the healthiest horse in the glue factory.

I've been skiing Keystone all January, and I keep running into lots of Californians who are in Colorado becasue the snow in the Sierra ( Tahoe + Mammoth) is pretty darn awful.
