Courtesy a dump of somewhere around three feet. Hopefully that's the first of what turns out to be a lot of el Nino driven snow.

I've skied Mammoth in July in several different years. Last year, the worst Sierra snow year in 500 years, they still made it into May.
The trouble is that Tioga Pass is normally closed until June, sometimes July. The road is CA120 and this is helpful,

mammoth mountain and Yosemite valley are separated by about 30 miles as the crow flies, but a drive of more than 300 miles in winter. You must go south almost to LA or north to south lake tahoe to cross the Sierra, the most formidable range in the lower 48.
Just pulled into Mammoth Lakes after a white knuckle final hour of driving in blinding snow. Got a room in Motel 6 for $52 w. AARP. Snow is piling up fast. tomorrow and Wed are going to be good, if they leave some of it ungroomed. Wed. is true veterans day, and we ski free.
Denis,
Thanks for your service!
Ski on!

Friend of mine is a long time passholder. They ski into June & July most seasons. Late April is no problem.
Powdah! Light, silky, deep. Yesterday it was everywhere. Today it stopped snowing and the sun came out. Some untracked still to be found in the small stands of trees and along edges. They have had more snow in the first 10 days of Nov. than in all last Jan.

I'm happy for you. It's about time CA got some! Could be a lot of good CA skiing this year if El Nino does his thing. I don't think I am going to get out there unfortunately. But let me know if you decide to drive over to UT at any point this season.
