Just got an email heads-up that its coming soon.  Given this year's trainwreck of a season, it doesn't seem too early to start planning out NEXT season!

I'm actually more interested in the MAXpass for next season- looking forward to seeing what changes are in store, and the price point.  Website says "back in March."   I'll finally be in a position to sample enough mountains to make it worth the investment.

The email I got implied that current holders are gonna get first shot....but no details, wonder if the slow start has anything to do with this or if it was the server issues last year

They posted this comment on a recent facebook post. Yes it will become available for purchase to the public Feb. 16th. You will be able to pick it up any time at the depot after that. It will not become valid, though, until March 1st.

Current pass holders can renew from now until Feb 14 for $219.

Then a "limited" number go on sale to the general public.

My email just says, stay tuned....bummer of a year for me. Between weather and work, I haven't had much use of my pass and unless we have an extended winter I doubt I will get many more chances. But will get it again and hope for more time next year!

Did you renew while you were there or is there something on the website that is missing. I see the 2016/2017 pass listed but no way to add it to my cart.

I just bought mine online with no problem as part of the pre-sale. Just went to the link that was sent.

Its only for homeowners currently though. They said it would open up after the 16th for everyone else.

My bad above - the presale is for homeowners.  Reading truly is fundamental.  Copy and paste works better.

Dear Homeowner,

The Ridiculous Pass is back, and you get first dibs. Lock in your 2016/17 Ridiculous Pass now to avoid the frenzy. You have from now until February 14th to purchase your Ridiculous Pass at the silly low price of $219. Guaranteed. After that, you'll have to wait until the public sale when only a certain number of passes are available at each tier. Yikes!

Yes, the pre-sale is for homeowners only, we went ahead and re-upped ours. One interesting change - I had the option to automatically renew it next year "at the lowest available price." I went ahead and signed up for that, one nice thing I read in the leagalese is that if you go that way, there is a small window after you renew the pass that you can cancel and get a full refund.  I didn't see any details about the MAX Pass in any of the communications.

If current passholders renew now....it doesn't immediately replace their current pass, right?  I'm thinking in particular of partner mountain benefits (which I have not used yet this year).

The new 2016-17 pass isn't valid until March 1, 2016.  What makes sense is to plan on using my 2015-16 pass (incl. partner mountain benefits) through this season, and then start with the 16-17 pass in November 2016.

If you mean the swap feature for HV, 7S, Wisp and BK it should be a non issue.  Just show up at their respective officies with your SS pass in hand and they issue you a lift ticket.

But would they not keep some sort of record at the swap resorts to make sure you did not use your SS pass for more than 1 free ticket (after 1 free ticket the SS pass good for any number of 50% tickets at  participating resorts).  Thus I would think one would want to use the current year pass.  Has SS indicated the same resort reciprocity agreements as in years past for the 16-17 Ridiculous Pass?

That's what I am wondering.  I am presuming they track you by your pass number.

They track it manually on some form you sign when you swap.  And yes it is tracked by your pass #.

I've only done HV a second time after the free one.  They asked me if I used it already, I said yes, they looked up my name in a stack of forms, pulled out my original one, plugged in the second date and charged me 50% off that days price.

Perhaps they enter something in their system but I could not tell.  It seemed like a manual, honor type system.

How could they validate that my pass is / was actually active?

It has to be by pass number. I dont even think 7 Springs and Hidden Valley have barcodes on thier lift tickets or season passes that the other resorts could scan if they wanted.

Are the partner benefits for 2016-17 passes available before the start of the season next winter?

Am I missing where I go to buy the pass for next year (as a current passholder)?  I haven't been getting any of the emails mentioned here (Im a passholder, not a homeowner.)

There's a secure link in the email- maybe email or call customer service and verify your info with them?  Doesn't look llike you can access it from the website.

I just called them and they weren't sure why I wasn't getting the emails.  She said I could buy it over the phone, but I was really more interested in getting them to fix the problem.  Always a little disappointed with the sluggish customer service at Snowshoe-she said "well I guess I can call marketing and have them send you the email."

A lot of snowshoe emails end up in my spam folder.  You may want to check there.
