Left snowshoe @ 2:30 to drive back to northern Virginia.  Trip normally takes 4 hrs and it took 5.5.

Really not too bad.  Kudos to wva snow removal and treatment. Very few stranded vehicles. Took it slow but only place I felt a bit uncomfortable was the last hour when it was dark and freezing rain which made visibility tough.

Left Snowshoe around 3pm for drive back to northern WV.  Rt219N was snow covered for first 15 miles, then wet for remainder of trip. No problems, made it home in the usual 2hrs 15min.

I spent Sunday/Monday in the CV area, no skiing though.  Tried out the sledding hill at Blackwater Falls on Sunday, which was fun and a beautiful day. Spent the night in Elkins and then back to White Grass yesterday where I tried snowshoeing for the first time and really enjoyed it.

Left WG around 4:30 and took about 3.5 hours.  US48 had one lane mostly cleared from Mt. Storm to Moorefield (and was dumping snow) then more or less was clear both lanes to Wardensville (with snow transitioning to rain somewhere along the way, there was a lot of snow that melted upon hitting the ground).  Wardensville to I81 was probably the worst section but did not pose any major problems.

Had great fun skiing 5+ inches of powder at Massanutten on morning morning.  Was with a friend and her kids who have never skied anywhere else.  Now they have skied "powder" since there was ungroomed on the edges of all the trails.  The boy can ski icy Paradice bumps and found it's a bit different when there is soft snow in the troughs.  Per usual, half of DJ and Paradice were left ungroomed.

We left Mnut about 2:30, just as the freezing rain was about to start.  Another friend who is at Mnut for the week said that his goggles were getting covered so he couldn't see.  Mnut mgmt decided at lunch time to close both the slopes and the waterpark at 5pm so that people would get off the roads before they got icy.

Driving south on US29 wasn't bad.  Was glad it wasn't raining much.  A bit more snow on the road around Lynchburg, which might have gotten a little more snow than Harrisonburg.  By the time we were close to Danville, the temp was up to 29 and the road was wet but not that icy.  Did see a car on the Danville bypass being being carted off that had obviously slid off the northboard side and flipped in the median earlier in the afternoon.

I looked at the weather report and decided to stay an extra day. Was glad I did when FFX County schools announced they were closed Tuesday. Sounds like I could have gotten down the hill on Monday afternoon -- but then we'd have been sitting around the house all day on Tuesday instead of skiing!
