I unfortunately booked a trip to Killington for the week of March 6. I was thinking of cancelling. Has anyone been to Killington recently or heard any accurate news about the condtions there. They currently only have 70 trails open. Not a good year to go to Vermont!

I looked over on EpicSki last week just out of curiousity. Was planning to go first week of end of March but pulled the plug and going to SLC instead. Seems like the conditions are pretty bony up there (VT).

I'm a long time (ex) Vermonter, and this season has been the worst in a very long time. When it's like this, you have to go much farther north. Le Massif and Valinouet in Quebec. Valinouet, in particular, tends to be far enough north to avoid these thaws.

Since my daughter is in school in Lake Placid, the last couple winters I've driven north for a few ski days in VT before picking her up for spring break.  Not going to bother this year.

This week will be lots of rain in VT with may an inch or two of snow afterwards.  Given how thin the cover was before, really won't be much left.

We've got some K-tix left that we are going to use up next weekend.  No, 70 trails isn't much for KT (how many times can you really ski Great Northern & Superstar?) but its still better than most.  Take whatcha got, right?  We would be heading to Brighton or Copper, but [drive + free place to stay + existing tix] still beats powder you need to pay for, at least for a quick weekend.

I'm following this thread as I have a Southwest flight to Boston on 3/3.  Buddy lives in beantown and we planned on skiing in NH on 3/4 + 5.

We have no formal reservations (other than my flight which can be cancelled penalty free) so I think I'll make the final decision next Wed based on the forecast.

We talked about driving north to Maine but it looks shitty there too.

NC's still mostly open.  Happy Appy's still got April 2nd down as their scheduled closing day.

Thank you all for your feed back. I decided to cancel and go to Copper Mountain. Got a good deal on a condo and airfare wasn't bad. I will visit The Beast some other time.

This has been a brutal year for the east. At least the Mid-A got Jonas, which rocked our world for a few days. Northeast got nunna dat. Rough.

As soon as I cancelled, Killington got 7" and their trail count went from 68 to 99. However, the base depth reported on their web site is 8" -24".  We have better base numbers reported here in the MA.  I found a rental that accepted pets, so I was taking my dogs. That said, Copper Mtn should be awesome.

Anyone know where to get so e lift ticket discounts?

Snowsmith,

Copper offers discounted e lift tickets on their website. They also offer discount lodging via same site.

There may be a Shell Gas deal when you fill-up you get BOGO voucher for Copper tickets.  Also, believe Copper is on Liftopia.
