The Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development (DRED) issued his approval for an expansion of new trails at Mt Sunapee NH today March 17th, with a new lift and a new lodge at Mount Sunapee Ski Resort. Meanwhile, the venerable Balsams resort in Dixville Notch has received the wetlands approval after last year's governor approval of a law permitting counties with unincorporated places to establish tax increment financing districts. For The Balsams, the expansion would create the largest interconected ski resprt in the East with 2,200 acres.
For Mt Sunapee, four new trails, a new ski lift, a brand new base lodge and expanded parking are all part of the Mount Sunapee plan, which has been endorsed by the leadership of all five surrounding towns and by many thousands of residents, local business owners, visitors and tourists.
A final vote of the New Hampshie Executive Countil is is scheduled for March 23.
