Methinks someone should have done a better jb of fact checking / proof reading the release:

"Snowshoe covers a total area of 11,000 acres in the Appalachian Mountain Range "

I think despite only having 260 skiable acres the resort does control 11,000 acres. That text was taken right off the Snowshoe webpage.

Frank seemed to do a good job at Snowshoe, he will be missed. The summers there have really been getting a lot of love recently, which has been a lot of fun.

It's official.  On 10/01/18 Alterra announced the closing is done for the purchase of Crystal in WA.

Frank is special and will be sorely missed at Snowshoe!  Under his management the resort became friendlier as well as physically improved.  Snowshoe’s loss is Crystal Mountain Resorts gain.  One can hope that the new COO at Snowshoe will not be just “corporate first” (as some previous managers have been), but retain some of Frank DeBerry’s “customers first” humanistic approach!
