This one killed a person and injured 5 others.

I read this every day in winter and spring.  There are similar avalanche centers elsewhere, like Colorado, north cascades, Mt. Washington, etc.  they all use the same modern graphics and analysis which are very effective.

Even if you always stay in bounds it is very helpful to know the snowpack history for the season.  Also whether to stay away from steeps and run out zones and wear a beacon in bounds when the risk is high.

In the end there were three deaths associated with that avalanche,  very tragic.

One survivor however was dug out alive after 50 minutes, which is pretty astonishing.  His account is harrowing, scares the crap out of me given the conditions I love.

wear your beacon if you have one when it's deep even inbounds

I will have my avalung backpack as well, it's a little bulky but..
