Royal Mountain

Near Clifford, Pennsylvania

Bill O’Hara notes that there was a ski area called Royal Mountain located near Clifford, Pennsylvania, not far from Elk Mountain. Bill recalls that Royal Mountain operated sometime in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

On February 3, 2008, Bill stopped by Royal Mountain and took the following three photos. “You can see what looks like remnants of lift lines or ski trails,” Bill writes.

This ski area is located above the current Hurricane hills motocross track.Last I had been there was 1988 and all the trails were very discernable and can be seen on mapquest aerial along with the dirt bike track south of Clifford on Rt 106.Roughly a 300' vert.With Elk Mountain visable and a stones throw away this in all likelihood put it out of biz.
