Wisp has made some snowmaking improvements for the 2019-2020 winter season, and has also upgraded to RFID lift tickets for a more streamlined experience.
Squirrel Cage is a popular black diamond slope at Wisp, and it should have more reliable snow thanks to the addition of five new state-of-the-art Techno Alpin TR8 tower fan snow guns, recently installed on lower Squirrel Cage. These energy-efficient guns have a greater range of working temperatures, and according to the resort, will be safer for the staff to work on due to their telescopic ability.
Wisp has also installed a Team Axess RFID ticketing gate system which will streamline the process of getting on the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to purchase a reloadable RFID card, storing lift tickets or season passes on the card. Once loaded, they can bypass the ticket window and go directly to the chairlifts.
Wisp also plans to roll out its own mobile app this winter, which will contain resort details, an interactive trail map, GPS tracking, and offers delivered via push notifications.
DC’s Bar and Restaurant will also be returning to Wisp this winter, serving guests lunch and dinner in a casual family-friendly atmosphere.
