Do I really have to put my photo and my kids photos in my SkiWhitetail/Epic profile? I just bought some discounted tickets for next Sunday and I'd rather not include photos of our faces if I don't have to...

The profile photos are used by lifties to check that the people using an RFID ticket/pass look about right.  That's why there is a liftie holding a tablet as people load a lift.   That's not a unique requirement for Epic.

I would think you could go into your Epic account and delete the profile photos after you use the lift tickets.

This is pretty much the case at all Ikon and Epic resorts. And maybe a lot of Indy. Indy has my picture.

Also true even for small independent ski areas that have only recently moved to RFID lift access.  Fair to say the number of ski areas/resorts without RFID lift access is getting smaller and smaller.  Not having to build gates makes a big difference.

I know Bryce still uses old school tag lift tickets. Do any other local resorts also still use them?

Wintergreen, Massanutten, Canaan Valley, Timberline were all using RFID for lift access by last season when I skied at least a day at all of them.  I assume Wisp as well since PGR runs both Wisp and Wintergreen.

As for NC, Sugar went to RFID with SkiDATA for 2024-25.  Beech changed over the year before, probably with Axess.  Appalachian was the first NC ski area to move to RFID in 2022.  Hatley Pointe went with RFID as part of the re-opening.  Cataloochee put their money into a new lift instead of RFID.

As an aside, Taos Ski Valley finally went to RFID for lift access for 2025-26.  TSV has been on Ikon and the Mountain Collective for several years, so was a bit of an outlier without RFID.
