Skied the Shoe for a while today. With no new snow, we got bored fast. Everything was groomed to near perfection, which was nice, but you can only bomb Cupp and Shays at dangerous/irresponsible speeds (it was a ghost town today BTW) for so long before you get bored. The vid below shows the only bump run on the mountain. A whole 2-3 turns worth. 55+ trails and they can't have one dedicated bump run? Lower Shay's was groomed flat. At least last year they occasionally let Widowmaker and Sawmill bump up slightly. With no REAL tree skiing, Snowshoe needs to do a better job at appealing to more skiers.

BTW, don't make fun of me. I'm a bump skier in "training".

And don't mind that failed air attempt at the end. Just a little too far in the backseat.

ahh, the knotbumber couloir. well done. i was up there saturday with the same observation. i believe they would blame it on the rain and ice last week, but idk, that seems pretty weak. widowmaker would make a fine bump run. putting that big double black warning sign on shays is just plain silly.

Snowshoe made me take up snowboarding because of the lack of bumps. Back in the day, they use to let Cupp bump up from top to bottom. They also use to let Widowmaker, Choker, & Knot Bumper get bumped up, not anymore.

I got some good bump skiing in at WISP last week. The Main Street had the best bumps, followed by the Face. They also had "Practice" bump runs with seeded bumps on Lower Boulder and on Roadrunner.

I use to ski about 10 days a year at the Shoe, but five years ago, I stopped going to the Shoe because of the lack of a challenge, plus I gave up snowboarding. Why would anyone pay $75+ to ski groomers?

Just don't buy a lift ticket and go exploring..This is yesterday.Couple fluffy inches on top of a racy base. The wet snow at the start of the recent snow event bonded + almost eliminated the rain crust layer.

But watch out when the pine growth sneaks up on you and you have to divert.

Sure is beautiful out there

Suzi Chapstick used to do that jump back in the day. She looked a little better than you. grin

Next, I wanna see you do a Tip Roll, Worm Turn and a Slow Dog Noodle.

With all the recent rain, not surprised the groomers have been working overtime the past week.

Amen brother. There's so much out there to ski without having to look at big mechanical infrastructure and crowds of people, and its free and it's amazing and some of the best skiing you will ever do. Funny, I just listened to this interview thing and it sums it all up very eloquently. joys of bc skiing
