So who's going to be in the Valley for Snowy Luau? Dates are March 16th-18th. I'll be there with a good bit of family, but hopefully I get a chance to ski a little with some DCSkiers.
If there's more than a few coming out, let's try to get a meet up organized.
So who's going?
I got an email from Tline and they have a new event:
- 2:00 pm: Bump Contest or Short Radius Contest
Why not keep the groomer off OTW and have the bump contest?
LHC and family (Friday and Saturday)
wanna come up for Sat, but have not done anything about crash space yet.
bingo. Anyone got a line on a flop house ? have sleeping bag will travel, bring beer.
I'd give ya a piece of the carpet, but will have all sorts of people and dogs in my closet so it wouldn't be good. Maybe some other regulars can help for crash space. I'll be there as usual. Wouldn't miss it. Always a good time and there will be the usual suspects lurking about the mountain as well. Trying to put together a group to do the syncro skiing on Saturday.

I've got an extra BOGO lift ticket coupon valid on weekends after 3/12. Let me know if you need it.Don't want to see it go unused if I can't make it up there
Brook, that's awesome, why not! Will pm details.

The Purple Fiddle Hostel
Beds only $20 per person
Access to a pool table, kitchen and wireless internet
I'm planning on going up with my wife and wondering if there are any good lodging deals besides the Purple Fiddle Hostel listed above. I don't think that would work for us.
go on the whitegrass websit and click on lodging. There are all types of places and if you link you can determine which is best/cheapest
The Canaan Valley Lodge has rooms for $99 a night (but looks like you may have $18 in taxes and fees!)
Canaan Valley Lodge Try a B&B in Davis or Thomas.
It's a longer drive, but you can get cheap lodging in Elkins.
Dress up as a Cub Scout and hunker down in the Bunkhouse. (You may have to shave first.)

Canaan Valley Lodge Wow, that seems a little high for them this time of year. Don't they normally have some better deals this late in the season?

Keith, Canaan Realty has a few nice properties. Not sure how many nights you plan on staying and the kind of amenities you're looking for. If you are only staying 2 nights, they are usually the best to rent from because most other companies have a min of 3 nights. And they have gone down to base season rates (some others are still at higher winter season rates).
For instance, $130/night gets you literally slopeslide at Timberline with a kitchen and everything you need:

David,
I plan on being at Snowy Luau for the 4th or 5th year straight. I think Jim Kenney is riding up with me, probably Friday afternoon or morning. Not sure whether Vince will make it or not?
TO HELP IDENTIFY THE DCSKIERS ON THE MOUNTAIN, ALL SHOULD
WEAR RED RIBBONS SOMEWHERE ON THEIR PERSON, POLES, GLOVES, BOOTS, HELMET, ETC. We did this during the DCSki group ski in mid-Feb and it worked well.
I'm betting on Doc and the staff at Timberline to somehow have the mountain as ready as possible for Snowy Luau.
The Colonel
I'll be there with about 20 other PSU ski team alum from friday - sunday! Friends are driving down from as far as Connecticut just for the weekend.
For anyone still looking for places to stay, highly suggest the always reliable Timberline Realty. The properties they offer are consistently top notch and prices are very reasonable this time of year. Also, if you only want 2 nights (only 3 offered online) you can go ahead and call the office and request a 2 night rental at a discounted cost.
Any reports on current conditions on T-Line and projections for what trails will make it through this very warm week?
Go to mountaintoprealty.com..look up "Alpine View"..Mention that Andy (Owner) sent you & to give you a 10 percent discount(try for 20)...4 bedrooms..Hot tub on deck (one of the bathrooms has a Jacuzzi Tub)..Large gameroom in basement (Air hockey,Pingpong.foosball,Darts, large chess table ect..) 2 min to canaan valley..7 min to TL. Cheaper rates due to being out of Valley...MPC..ALPINE VIEW!
PS..If a blizzard decides to show up I have an eff apt downstairs that i could crash in which would give someone a nicer discount!
Wow, by the sound of things, it looks like one of the biggest luaus yet! The skiing should still be good. The chance of rain is now lessening and who knows, maybe things will work out for a great ski weekend. As I tell folks, sign up at the ski school desk for the tourchlight the more the merrier. I know of quite a few parties that'll be going on apres' ski, so there will ample opportunity to enjoy.
Great day out there with plenty of DCSkiers! Conditions were pretty sweet!!
bah.. wish I had been able to meet up, really didn't have much of a chance to get away.
Amazing job Tline for the conditions, really amazing given how warm its been!
