Time to look ahead to this coming weekend and into next week.
Whitetail and Roundtop say they are reopening for Saturday 12/13 and Sunday 12/14. No word yet on the following week. Liberty will not reopen for the weekend. Seven Springs reopens Friday 12/12 at noon for the weekend; daily operations begin Monday 12/15 (and their webcams look great!). Canaan Valley says they will reopen for the following weekend 12/20.
Who else is (re)opening, and when?
Hidden Valley will open Saturday 9am to 9pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm.
Timberline opens on Friday. It appears they will have White Lightening open top to bottom.
Bryce-unclear
Wintergreen-opening Saturday
Massanutten-opening Friday
Liberty WILL be open saturday and sunday. Mountain ops has some work to do...but website says they will be open.
Bryce is opening this weekend from 9 to 5

Blue knob is open
If open to the bottom, i might go there. I've been fooled in early season before and got there and only about 250 vertical feet were open with a fresh 8"-10" dump.
Massanutten will have night skiing on Friday and Saturday nights. Snowmaking started in the late afternoon. Good chance I'll be up there by Friday afternoon.
Soooo, if driving to hit the snow, who has the most open today?
Any word on what will be open at Blue Knob today?
Any prediction on Saturday crowd at Whitetail? Never been there pre-season, but the regular season lines always scares me...

I'm not a Whitetail expert, but pre-Christmas weekend crowds are usually pretty manageable even at busy Snow Time Inc resorts because low trail counts make some folks wait or holiday shopping preempts ski trips on the family priority list. Exception to this might be if we got a couple of inches of natural snow in Wash DC on the Thurs or Fri before. Then the hoards might come out for Sat and Sun in a frenzy for powder that has long since been groomed to smithereens :-)
Whitetail is open for midweek starting monday 8:30-10pm 7 days a week.
Also, Angel Drop today was in great shape except for the very bottom, those new snow guns they spent all that money on show. Fanciful looks like another night of snowmaking will allow it to open as well, as they have several 6'-8' piles of snow on that trail that trail that they never groomed.
And note to the comment above, one of the guys at the resort made a comment about how if there isn't snow on the ground in DC anything pre Christmas (and even later sometimes) will be mild as far as crowds are concerned, I know today I never waited more than 2-3 groups deep for a lift and more often than not I got on with nobody in front of me.
I made the trip to whitetail yesterday and it was great! Now I regret not going 2 weeks ago. No lines even at the ez rider lift!
some friends went to timberline and only one top to bottom run was open. Any forecast on when they can open more runs? Plan to go there during Christmas holidays.
