Now that it's March, what's the buzz on closing dates for 2018-19?
Wintergreen says they will be open at least thru March 17. Probably the same for Massanutten since the sale for next season's season passes goes thru March 17.
Wasn't there a date announced for Snowshoe already?
SS - March 24. SS Prez said in a letter to home owners that they will consdier extending if Mother Nature cooperates.
7springs will probally be either 3/31 or 4/7. They have said they are hoping to make it to April and will be making snow through most of March.
The Mashed Potato Meltdown at 7s is probally 4/13 but some years they don't have enough snow to run the lift for that event.
HV has put all of the portable snow makers in storage and LM’s leased compressors are gone for the season. HV still can run the stationary guns. No closing date announced but they may start ending weekday skiing later this month.
Most places down here are shooting for the 24th.
I just got conframation that 7spring is doing normal operations till at least 3/17.
3/18 to 3/21 probally 9am to 4pm.
3/22 to 3/24 probally 9am to 7pm
3/25 to 3/28 possibly closed
3/29 to 3/31 probally open (9am to 4pm?)
4/6 and 4/7 maybe (9am to 4pm?)
It's official, Massanutten will make snow this week and is shooting to stay open thru March 17 at least. When the weather cooperates, Mnut has run lifts Fri-Sun after daily operations don't make sense. Heard from someone who demo'd on Sunday that the snow surface wasn't bad, although the snow was pretty wet and icy.

1" new snow yesterday, clearing with highs in the lower 30s. We will be making snow this week to give you the best possible conditions through the end of the season. The current plan is to operate daily through at least Mar 17.
Saw in a DCSki thread about Snowshoe that they have announced Sunday, March 31 as the extended date for closing.
Massanutten posted plans to be open March 22-24 for a bonus weekend after 7-day ops end on March 18.
I was at whitetail tonight...and I know in the other thread I gave them a hard time for not making snow earlier this week. I think even with the warm forecast they have enough snow to have daily ops through the 24th and if we don’t get a ton of rain maybe the 31st. They do still have some hoses out for the fan guns in high traffic areas. Although others have been put away.
also they have bottled beer and wine in solstice now....so I guess the liquor license process is complete
Conditions tonight were pretty good, a few inches of natural over a packed base. Never really hit “ice” but what was under the natural was solid, but very carvable
Anybody know whether Bryce will be open for skiing next Thursday, March 14??
I hope Wimtergreen will stay open till the last week of march, they have enough snow
I suspect Massanutten will
Snowshoe definately
Wisp I'd bet
Canaan I bet not although they could
The NC resorts? that's a gamblers nightmare
I was at WT as well tonight. Great conditions for March. Agree that hey have enough base and don’t need to make snow. The question is how hot it is going to get next week. Had a lift operator and guest services person tell me 3/18 is the last day. We shall see.
Perhaps the lift operator just meant that was when he figured his relationship with the guest services person was going to end. He might still stay and keep the lifts running till April
Laurel is aiming for normal schedule operations until March 17. I'm not sure after that.
Whitetail has not yet announced a closing date, but there will be no night skiing Monday-Thursday this week. The mountain will close at 5:00 PM those days. Normal hours of operation are in effect on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 3/15-3/17.

The note does say liberty and roundtop will have regular hours this week. Although I’m surprised the note was on their website only at this point and not social media as well. Recently it seems like social media is a better source than websites

Yes Bryce is open 9:00-5:00 daily (no night skiing). Skied there this weekend and it's still in very good shape. I'm told they plan to stay open until late March.
Anyone been to Wisp latley? Supposed to go this coming weekend and wondering how conditions have been...
Wisp had really good conditions two weekends ago, even with Saturday morning's fog - sorry that might not be much help now with the relatively warm week.
I lifted these off the SkiSE first tracks report, please paste others as you hear anything definate

Boy did Whitetail take a beating yesterday with that heat. Another really warm day today and they'll be lucky to get through the weekend. Going to be hard to generate many skiers visits anywhere these days with the weather so warm, web cams at all places during week looked like there were hardly any people there.
I'll be at Wintergreen for an hour or two mid day tomorrow.
Today, 3/17, ends weekday operations at Laurel Mountain. They plan to open next weekend
I had dinner at 7S on Friday and the cover looked kind of thin on the frontside. HV is still 100% open.
Wintergreen was actually a little more active than I expected yesterday, Not crazy busy, no lines to speak of, but seemed like enough people to justify being open. I'm not so sure that they have enough base to make it to the 31st though. Next weekend ought to be viable sith some thin patches though..
I think Wintergreen is only planning on making thru next Sunday, 24th. I will probably be there Friday.
Whitetail, as you all know, is closed.
Roundtop is skiing weekends only.
Liberty is open all week.
Subject to change, of course.
